The Entreamigos Store
The entreamigos store is a non-profit cooperative which showcases
the outstanding work of San Pancho artisans.
The store promotes and
funds a women's art program called " trabajarte" that teaches women
how to use recycled materials to make quality products to sell.
Eighty percent of the proceeds from the store support contributing
artists and twenty percent support entreamigos community education
programs.
Here, your purchase will make a difference!
The Store is located on Ave. Tercer Mundo, ½ block from the beach.
Library and Computer Center
In
November, 2006 we opened Biblioteca San Pancho, a library, and small
but dynamic community meeting place. Open six days a week, the
library is home to a computer center and a growing collection of
books in Spanish and English for children and adults. Visits from
the Kindergarten, Elementary and Jr. High classes during the day are
in addition to programs such as homework assistance, reading circles
and art workshops which are offered after school. All programs
at the library are provided free of charge. Your
donations are greatly appreciated
Education and Outreach
Entreamigos
is committed to increasing educational opportunities for all of the
children of San Pancho. In collaboration with the teachers in the
schools, Entreamigos seeks to complement their work by providing
additional resources; such as teacher training opportunities, the
library and computer center and in-school workshops using art to
discuss and explore themes like
environmental responsibility, drugs
and sexuality. All services to the schools are provided free of
charge.
Summer Workshops
Entreamigos
programs come alive in the six weeks of summer! We offer six weeks
of educational and recreational classes including English, Computer
classes, Swim lessons and a collection of additional classes such as
yoga,
cooking, soccer etc depending on the skills of the volunteers
available during the summer. In 2006, our first year of summer
workshops, we had more than 100 kids participate and 30 volunteer
teachers. We are planning a spectacular summer for 2007!
Scholarships
Entreamigos
runs a scholarship program for children of limited resources. Annual
scholarships provide uniforms, school supplies and pay all school
expenses. For some children, having a scholarship is the only way
that they could attend classes. If you would be interested in
supporting a child scholarship please
contact
or donate
Community
We
believe that part of what makes
San Pancho so
special is its unique sense of community. We believe that
"Community" is a choice that requires participation, practice and
commitment. Entreamigos creates opportunities for the community of
San Pancho to unite and actively work together for positive change
in the form of community beautification projects, town clean ups,
Planta San Pancho - an annual reforestation, as well as many
festivals and
cultural events.
