Nayarit is one of
31 states in Mexico. It is located in the
central west of Mexico, bordering the Pacific Ocean. The area now known as the state of Nayarit, was originally conquered by the Spanish in the early 17th century. Soon after that, when Mexico gained it's independence; Nayarit shifted from a Guadalajara dependency to becoming part of Jalisco. In 1884 Nayarit separated into it's own territory and became a state in 1917. The state capital is Tepic, and is located inland along the Tepic River close to the Sanganguey volcano and crater lake. The rugged, yet magnificently beautiful coastline of Nayarit, offers opportunities for many different adventures. Surfers are found all along the coast, especially in the towns of San Pancho and La Cruz. You will find events and festivities almost on a weekly basis, including the timeless tradition of CHARRERÍA, helping to preserve the cowboy culture introduced by the conquerors. Migration from United States has also caused a major growth spurt along the Pacific coast. For those of you who are considering purchasing property in Mexico, Nayarit is the ideal place to hone in on. The Nayarit coastline, is the newest area for the
FONATUR, the government tourist development agency that created the resorts
of Cancún, Los Cabos, Ixtapa, Huatulco and Loreto. Litibú (the name of a bird in
the native Huichol language) is phase one in the Nayarit project, scheduled to
encompass three phases by 2025. Although the Litibu is projected to help the
economic development for this area as well as all of Mexico, the cost of living
has risen considerably, especially where it is focused in the coastal areas. It
attracts wealthier individuals and families seeking investment information and
opportunities by buying up any available real estate, and vacant land with an
intent to eventually retire here; yet simultaneously may be displacing
those natural citizens who have lived there for centuries. The end result may be
the natural born citizens can no longer afford to live here because the influx
of others with more dollars to spend can create a lifestyle far more expensive
than the native people of Mexico can generally afford. Thus far is appears all

Nayarit is one of the smaller states in Mexico and covers approximately 27,000 kilometers; for your convenience below is a map of state of Nayarit, where you will find the village of San Pancho and it's incredible little community of people. The road system consists of well maintained two lane highways , as well as Auto Pistas; with signs at major connecting points designating; which roads are free (libre) and which are the Auto Pistas with multiple tolls along the way. The Auto Pistas can be a bit pricey, yet may be worth the charge, as they are less traveled due to the fees, and at times less windy through the mountainous areas, making traveling faster throughout the state. top

A variety of products are agriculturally produced
due to the heavy rains, rich soil and altitude variations of this mountains
bordering ocean area. Mangos, coffee and sugar cane are just a few of the
products that economically sustain the people of this little state in Mexico. The religion is predominately Catholic, as it is throughout most of Mexico.
There are 20 municipalities, with the major communities of those
municipalities existing in Itzlan del Rio, Santiago Ixcuintla and Tuxpan. For
