Bridge Collapses in Puerto Vallarta The bridge between Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta is “out”. There is no traffic moving either north or south at this time. If you are coming or going, north or south today – it won’t happen . Proteccion Civil called Pam /thompson this morning and said part of the bridge collapsed at 4 or 5 am. This would be the bridge over the Rio Ameca, essentially, the state line between Jalisco and Nayarit. Posted Sept 1 2010 Traffic is moving between Puerto Vallarta and the towns of Nayarit |

Because "DIA DE LA INDEPENDENCIA" is on Thursday, the
RECYCLERS of BUCERIAS will change the regular Volunteer
Day to Friday, this week only. Same time, 9 pm and
place, "Bucerias Recycling Center" at C. Encino and C.

Take a pictorial visit through the weekly market, the
tianguis, in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle on
Kathleen's food blog, when we shopped for
Mexican kitchen gadgets on a rainy Wednesday.
Heavy rains in the Banderas Bay region
have caused bridges to collapse, landslides and the
flooding of streets, homes and businesses, leaving many
people homeless, or without basic necessities such as
food, clean water, clothing and electricity.
Though local businesses, government, and private
citizens have joined together to assist those in need,
there are still many people who need your support. For
this reason, local non-profit PEACE is collecting
donations for ALL of the affected villages in the
Banderas Bay area.
Donations of food and clothing are being collected
through September 19th. From experience, we've found our
communities respond best when we can keep it simple. In
North Bay, we'd like to stress these basic needs:
• Dry and Canned Food (rice, beans, tuna, etc.)
• Water • Diapers + baby formula • Clothing for adults and children • Bleach Several drop-off locations have been set up in the Banderas Bay area for those who would like to donate.

Posted September 9 2010 San Pancho Flood Update: Rains have been holding off (for now) - surfers ARE surfing despite the new "island" and trees in the ocean - second footbridge is up with supplies coming in (and garbage going out) - people going back and forth easily - and... the road is open. All for now, Geno ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted September 5 2010 Bridge Washes Out in San Pancho Geno Lamphiear (Calandria Realty) reports, Last night driving back from Sayulita I hit a landslide - & I mean HIT! All of a sudden there were rocks in front of me - BIG rocks - & I ran over a couple... I'm afraid to look at the car this morning. I made it to San Pancho just before 11 pm... I have heard that was when our bridge was completely destroyed by the river! I may have been the last person to cross the bridge. Check out the photos below. San Pancho Weather took photos as well and reported that “San Pancho lost it’s only bridge during heavy rains Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3 and 4. The people of San Pancho awoke Sunday morning, to find the bridge gone. The bridge was the only way in and out of San Pancho, meaning residents have to start thinking about food, water and propane supplies. Clean up has already begun. Read more details and see full story at San Pancho Weather Thanks to Geno Lamphiear for personal experience and photos (below) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
